What does the ‘Z’ in Fitz stand for? Why Fitz not Fit?

This is my favorite question! First of all, my goal is to make fitness and movement fun and full of ZEST for all you movers out there. So there is it ‘Z’ for ZEST! Secondly, my last name happens to be Fitzgerald. So there ya have it, that ‘Z’ serves two pretty rad purposes if ya ask me ;)

Do I need equipment for the programs?

The programs are designed to need little to no equipment (depending on the program in question). Each purchase comes with program directions with pieces of equipment and links that Ava herself suggests. If no dumbbells/kettlebells are available, we challenge you to find something in your surrounding that would make a good replacement.

What exactly is Get Fitz With Ava?

GFWA (Get Fitz With Ava) is a company that provides workout routines/exercise programming designed specifically for aspects of movement involved in outdoor activities such as surfing, climbing, hiking/trail running, etc. For those looking to level up in their craft/hobby/movement of choice, GFWA helps you prime your body so your ready for any and all of the adventures.

What will I receive when I buy a program?

You will receive an e-mail upon purchase that prompt you to fill out our waiver. Once you have filled out and submitted the waiver, you will gain access to you program, program direction, as well as the info needed to utilize our extensive video library.

Each program consists of a six day spread—4 days of workouts, 1 day of recovery exercises, and 1 day off. The additional day of the week (Sunday) is meant to be taken as an off-day as well.

Will I be receiving tips for my specific movement of choice?

The programs provided by GFWA consist of exercises that aid in areas of your movement you might be struggling with, but we do not provide direct tips on the actual sport…yet :)

What makes GFWA different?

Ava Fitzgerald is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Personal Trainer. With extensive education, experience, and knowledge in strength and conditioning, olympic weightlifting, working with athletes of all levels, she is able to provide a thorough experience that goes beyond physical goals. Diving into the mental aspect of movement helps transform the experience had during workouts as well as the movement of choice. Ava is adamant about tapping into the power of nature to help remind you of the power IN YOU!

Should I buy more than one program?

Each program is designed with YOU in mind. Yes, you! The way you move in your sport is important to me. While the programs are divided into specific categories of movement within each sport, it is important to fine-tune all aspects of movement to reduce the risk of injury. Cross-training is one of the most beneficial ways to minimize injury (specifically overuse injuries). Although you might want to focus on one pesky area that’s keeping you stuck, be sure to balance it out with another program, keeping you dialed in all areas ;)

What are the main differences between the personalized programs and programs for purchase?

Purchasing a program online grants you access to everything you will need to complete it, but the main difference between the two is your interaction with me. Personalized programs involve phone calls, video chat sessions and back and forth contact with me throughout. Personalized programs are also designed with your exact goals in mind. Programs for purchase online are of no lesser value, in fact they include quite a bit of my blood, sweat, and tears. And of course I always hope to interact with ALL of you!
