Tips for the ‘weekend warrior’

Are weekend adventures what fill you up for the week?

Do you spend your free time planning and looking forward to where you’ll go and what you’ll do?

No matter where you live, there are always adventures to be found and fun to be had…and sometimes it’s about making the littlest things feel like the biggest adventures!

Tips for planning the perfect adventure for every weekend warrior:

  1. any adventure partners coming with?

  2. figure out how much time you have, how many nights you want to be away (if any - day trips are rad too), and how much time you need to get back home and get ready for the week ahead

  3. choose a radius/distance you’re willing to travel

  4. plug in an area/town on google maps and look for surrounding state parks

  5. download the All Trails app and search for hikes at state parks or other trails in the area

  6. look for coffee shops and restaurants in the area (who doesn’t love a good coffee shop!?) - make sure you’re near food if you won’t be cooking for yourself

  7. are you somewhere with water? check the surf report

  8. are there rocks nearby? check if there are any routes you can send :)

  9. decide what kind of weekend you want to have

    1. camping - check if the state park has campsites available & proper accommodations - there are plenty of sites like the dyrt and hipcamp that can help you find some campsites in the area

    2. air bnb - wanna treat yourself a little? there are some rad air bnb options out there

    3. VRBO - sometimes you’ll find different options on VRBO than you will on air bnb - worth the search

  10. pack your adventure gear, a good book, a speaker for some tunes (duh), some yummy food and snacks, a deck of cards, and lotsa water :)

  11. JUST GO!!!!!!!!

Sometimes, the hardest part is getting yourself to just go…but I promise, once you start adventuring…it is ALWAYS worth it. Even when things don’t go as planned, you’ll have the most epic memories to look back on and (hopefully) laugh about.

In the most recent years, the spontaneous adventures, the ones without any real plans, are my favorites. No pressure…just seeing where life takes me!

It doesn’t matter if you plan your weekends/day trips out to the minute, or if you tend to set out without a real destination…as long as you’re out there having a BLAST!!

OH….. and can’t forget about the weekends spent in your own backyard, whether it’s an adventure or a relaxing and refreshing time spent at home…those are super important too. Listen to your body and make sure you’re doing what feels good for you! ;)
